I live in Florida, and have so for the past 5 yrs. every summer I take a 10 day vacation to Canton, Ohio where I spent most of my life. in the past 5 trs i have only been able to get tickets at a scalped price. this year in June I will be making my northern trek again. Finally I can see the game at regular cost, I may get to even see them from the box seats.
This is all sarcasm, I would sooner watch the Indians on t.v. for my ten days in ohio and win then to see them live and lose. Mr. Dolan I hope your happy every time you look out from your luxury loge in beutiful Jacobs field and see emty stands everywhere. you have broken the hearts of many people across the united states, including me all the way down here in Florida.

lighten up, dude... it's December, and your heart is broken already? What caused such pathos: the failure to give in to a sore-back slugger's demand for outrageous sums of money for the next half decade? Or was it the cashing in of an aging star for young talent?
Anyway, an $80 million payroll is not bad! do you know what Arizona's payroll was last year? $81 million. Seattle's? $76 million, and they did, um, ok. Oakland started the season at $34. $34!!
So give 'em a chance before you start to cry.

It seems to me that the perfect #3 is Lawton. Guiterrez is #2... not sure about #1: Brady, or one of the young guys perhaps.
And lest I forget, Alex, thanks for starting this board.

The only way Brady Anderson starts is if Russel Branyan gets traded, until then Lawton and RickyG will bat 1-2.

Look, next year's team will be no powerhouse, and in my estimation may not quite reach .500, but it won't be disgraceful either- it should provide some good entertaining baseball, of a kind that real baseball fans will enjoy. Is that really so awful? And if the defection of the frontrunners means it's easier for me to get tickets to take my daughter to some weekend day games, that's fine with me.

Next years team could also lose 90 games! I still can't believe that many of you do not believe that there is a good chance the Tribe will be awful next year. I'm sure if they aren't you will be throwing it in my face at the end of the season. However, it could very well be me saying "I told you so!" at the end of the year. The starting rotation that we will be rolling out there every 5 days combined with a much weaker starting nine could mean a very loooooooooong season. Wake up Tribe fans and smell the coffee because the days of winning the weak Central Division every year are over!

#1 Swanny, you do not know anymore than the rest of us - stop trying to act like you do.
#2 It actually would not be the worst thing to this franchise if they did not win the Central next year. Whoever does win the Central is almost assured of losing in the first round anyhow - Cleveland included.

swanny, do you remember how absolutely horrible the pitching was last year? there were 3, 4, 5 game spans when finley burba nagy woodard etc had us down by 5 or 6 runs in the 3rd. Also, don't be fooled by some of the beefed up hitting stats. Just like in the playoffs vs. seattle, we'd win one by 10 runs, then lose two by 4-2 or 3-1. Frankly, last year's team wasn't that great and we still won the central.
I'm genuinely excited about the 2002 team, it will be a refreashing change. And after 2002, when more salary is freed up (nagy and finley and cordero) it will really start to get interesting.
